Blogging Takes Discipline (and internet)

We’ve been keeping busy here in Bayfield with a variety of things but unfortunately the only sailing we’ve done is on someone else’s boat. We did manage to get launched about a week ago but parts trouble has kept us from getting our mast up. We have all new sails in the backseat of the car, just waiting for the day that the mast goes up. We think the parts supply issue has been resolved and we hope to be a sailboat early this coming week. We also had a through hull that needed attention so we had to haul out overnight to address that.
Internet has been elusive after getting launched as we’re at the farthest end of the dock. My goal is to post about once a week but having no internet takes the joy out of that.
The town of Bayfield is neat in a lot of ways with not all of them being touristy. The people that we’ve met so far are extremely friendly and are eager to share information about the lake and the islands. Coast Guard Station Bayfield is adjacent to the marina and we’ve enjoyed watching them strike the colors in the evening.
The weather is crazy as it can change at the drop of a hat. Fog and rain have been constant companions.
Hopefully we’ll have more to report soon after we get a mast and can be mobile.

  1. Sorry you’ve had some issues to deal with. Seeing as we don’t know “sailing speak”, what is a “through hull”?

    1. Sorry it’s taken so long to get back to you. Life without internet is making some things inconvenient. A through hull is a fitting that goes through the hull to let things, usually water, in or out. In our case it was the through hull that brings water in for flushing the head (toilet). We discovered that it was loose and had to lift the boat out of the water to repair it. Not a big deal but it needed to be done.
